St Magnus Festival

Friday 16 - Thursday 22 June 2017

The St Magnus Festival is Orkney's annual celebration of the arts. Founded in 1977 by Orkney's distinguished composer, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, the festival has grown from small beginnings to one of Britain's most highly regarded and adventurous arts events. Although music is at the heart of the artistic programme, the festival also encompasses drama, dance, literature and the visual arts.

The programme will be available in Mid-April. It will feature the Trondheim Soloists and Norwegian Radio Orchestra as part of events to mark Magnus 900.

Mainland Orkney is a fascinating Island where we are planning to visit
the incredible chambered cairn of Maeshowe dated 2750BC, Skara Brae Neolithic settlement, The Italian Chapel built by prisoners of war, Brough of Birsay, the famous natural harbour Scapa Flow and numerous stone circles.
